Video: Jason Slezak Talks Unhooking & Wakestyle

“It doesn’t ever get boring…”
The crew at The Kite Show recently caught up with Wind Voyager Triple-S Co-Founder Jason Slezak to talk wakestyle and the incredible feeling of riding unhooked. “The majority of kiteboarders out there don’t unhook, ever, and there’s nothing wrong with that…” says Jason. “But the moment that you do unhook, that sensation of power…there’s something powerful and special about that.”

For riders that have never attempted riding or doing tricks unhooked, Jason recommends giving it a try when the conditions are right. “I think people have an unrealistic fear of it,” Jason says. Not only is unhooking a ton of fun, but practicing means you won’t have a panic moment if you ever become unhooked by accident. Once you’re ready to take it to the next level, Jason encourages you to join the wakestyle crew and start attempting a few rails, kickers, or other features. “…whether it’s your first time running at a tiny flat-bar rail…all the way up to hauling super fast at a kicker…that conscious decision to just propel yourself at an object…there’s just a really good sensation about it.”
