Wind Voyager Triple-S Open Results & Gallery

The Wind Voyager Triple-S Open kicked off Friday, June 1st. Up and coming kiteboarders made the pilgrimage to REAL Watersports to compete for the last remaining spots in the Wind Voyager Triple-S Invitational. We faced a roller coaster of a forecast, with an initial puff of wind from the North on Friday riders set out to compete with kites. Once we got a few hits done, the tables turned when the wind changed to an offshore direction and slowly died through the day. Riders waited to start but eventually finished the day sessioning the park behind Jetskis.

Waking up on day two, we all reached for our phones to check Ikitesurf and were faced with a light wind forecast. The Open would be run, but behind Jetskis rather than kites. After making it through all of the riders we were able to finish the contest but just as the skis were docked the wind turned back on, the riders were stoked and we got back in the water to re-run the competition with kites. This is a kite competition after all and despite the extra effort, it was the right thing to do.

The Men’s division brought fierce competition, with Brendan Kerr of California eventually taking the win with a clean backmobe off of the Core Super Kicker and a highly technical assault of the North Kiteboarding A-Frame. In second place we have REAL’s own Jeremy Jones. We were missing one invited rider in the main event, leaving three vacant seeds and providing room for three Open Riders to enter. Rounding it out in 3rd place, REAL Coach, Aaron Roberts displayed the skills to earn the final seed in the 2017 Wind Voyager Triple-S Invitational. The Women’s division was faced with injury and an inability to compete, with the result being a DNF (Did Not Finish). We’re all looking forward to watching these up and coming riders compete in the 2017 Wind Voyager Triple-S Invitational.
