The REAL Triple-S Invitational Day 2 in Cape Hatteras, North Carolina!
2008 Triple-S Invitational sponsored by REAL, Red Bull, Outer Beaches Realty and John Wayne Cancer Foundation.
Day 2 of the Triple-S Sunday June 1st
The Second Day of the Triple-S went off on cue Sunday June 1st with South West winds 15-25 knots all day. Riders hit the water early immediately following the 10am riders meeting for the morning South West session in The Slick. Again the entire REAL Slider Park was set up including the Red Bull Fun Box, the John Wayne Cancer Foundation Doublewide, the REAL Kicker, and the NEW REAL Butter Box.
Winds lasted until about lunch time when the midday lull kicked in providing a perfectly timed lunch break. Riders took advantage of the lighter midday conditions by fueling with food, then hitting Ramp 23 South of Salvo for a midday Surf Session.
The 4pm riders meeting under the Red Bull Tent provided the forecast for the after noon, which saw winds out of the South West building back into the 20 knot range. Riders hit the water after the meeting and sessioned the REAL Slider Park until 8pm. Tons of great sessions were had on all the different features of the park with the highlights being the lower and upper rail of the Red Bull Fun Box, as well as multiple 540 and 720 attempts off the REAL Kicker. Just after 8pm a frontal boundary passed through the area switching winds from the South West to the North setting up a condition and event location changed for Monday.
Conditions for Monday are North East winds at 20 knots with flat surf, so the Triple-S will move location to Kite Point between Buxton and Avon for another flat water session.
Special thanks to Event Sponsors Red Bull, Outer Beaches Realty and the John Wayne Cancer Foundation.
